I am looking for a recommendation for a shop in Bay Area, central valley. Thinking about beefing up the spring pack. After 13 years I think carrying all this weight is getting a bit tired.
yes, they are adjustable. You can crank them down tight for the full load handling, back them off when empty, or anything in between. I adjust mine to offset for the slide AND the crown of most back country roads I drive around here. You know; where the center of the road is higher than the shoulder making driving with a camper feel like you are walking with one leg longer than the other?
I keep my battery operated driver/drill with the deep socket sized to fit the nut in my truck with my jack.
BTW, I use BOTH air bags AND the overload springs. I use the air bags at around 30psi as a way to just take some of the weight off the shackles.
Skipro, are those able to adjust in any way. As in running the mounting nut up the shackle more. I have a problem with side loading because of the heavy slide side. Currently use air bags to level but could not use both.
Spring shops and places that specialize on off-road vehicles are good places to get new or additional leaves. Cost is cheap as the leaves are inexpensive so the labor is the main cost.
An alternative is to add SuperSprings to your existing leaf packs.
I just had mine done at Dentoni's Spring and Suspension in Sacramento. They did it with the camper on to ensure I got the right amount of lift out of the additional springs. I was squatting with my new camper but not anymore. I'm happy with the work.
