This has worked well for me for years.
With that method you are putting an unknown amount of force on the four corners. It is no different than simply cranking the jacks down too much in the first place.
Not really, but kinda yes. It isn't much different than tightening the rear jacks individually, "guesstimating" the amount of force... BUT - this way you are doing them equally, helping to prevent twisting of the trailer frame.
