Biggest change for me was due to new Rancho XL9000 shocks. I also have airbags and anti-sway bar. New 19.5 rims and tires sealed the deal.
Darn... every time I think I've made my mind up on something, I realize my homework is not done. Now I'm looking at upgrading to the Ranchos!
Can you maybe tell me what the differences are between upgrading suspension, adding stableloads, adding airbags, and adding a swaybar? I realize this is not a short response but I am brand new to all of this and I just want to do it right and understand as much as I can. I know all those things help the ride but how exactly?? Which ones are necessary? Which are luxuries? I really appreciate anyone taking the time to help me with this.
Don't over complicate things. You have a 2ton, giver take camper on a very capable truck with more factory payload than that.
Some folks here will have you in a new 5500dooley to haul a popup camper, lol.
You've already driven it and are comfortable with the way it handles, so most upgrades will be more of a luxury than an absolute need.
Sway bar, helps with stability side to side. Worthwhile if you think it rocks side to side too much.
New shocks if it bounces excessively. Or wait til it bounces excessively.
Other stuff, springs, helpers, stable loads, airbags all add up to how well or how high it carries the load.
Posting a pic of it and how much it squats as is would help. I.e. Do you have much suspension travel left or close to bottoming out? Again, a guess, but that truck doesn't need much to have ideal handling (considering you're carrying a camper on it).
