I've run air bags for many years without such a failure.
Semi trucks run on air bags. And I've had more cracked or broken leaf springs than failed bags on them. Any reliability issues with air bags are more likely related to poor installation.
If an airbag did fail, it's not like you can't still safely drive, and there's nothing about them that wouldn't be an easy fix.
