That's a dang good looking rig. Dry bath too!!!
What are you using for rear steps? I've got scissor steps but they block the basement door. I bought an aluminum cargo carrier, put a sheet of 1/4" plywood on it and I think I can use a simple 2 step stool. Store the stool inside the camper, just step up on the carrier, open the door and get the stool and set iton the carrier. I did have to get a hitch "tightener" to stabilize the carrier.
Your camper all loaded to go might weigh 4,000#. Your payload about 5,000??
Thanks!! I'm quite obsessed myself. But those scissor steps are really awful aren't they? It's what's I'm using for now but yeah they're heavy, bulky, awkward and they block the basement door. It blows my mind that there aren't better options on the market. I've done so much research trying to find something. I'm currently drafting up some ideas to build something. Not sure what I'm going to do yet. Maybe a folding or sliding porch. Maybe telescoping steps like boats have. Gotta do something. Let me know how your cargo carrier setup turns out! I'm hesitant to add any length (I'm already 24').
I'm going to weigh the truck like you recommended. That's a great tip. And my payload is almost 6,000#. CVWR is 10,000#. Such a beast! Hence the reason it drives like a cloud and my hesitation to do anything to it.
