Stands/Jacks under the slide outs

We are new the "slide" world so please bear that in mind when answering the n00b question. I have seen that some people with slides will put supports or jacks under their slides and others do not.

Obviously this is probably a lot of opinion but what are the pros/cons of doing this?
  • I fabricated a pair a number of years ago, but only use them if
we are having more than 4 people in the trailer. Have not had any problems.
If one is parked on a soft surface I won't use them.
  • I don't use them. Unless the manufacturers documentation says that they are needed, or ok I'd stay away.

X2, But check your owners manual to be sure.
