Bad idea IMO....the material may be tougher, but that black will soak up the heat and make the TT impossible to cool. White may not last as long but it reflects the heats and keeps you cool in the summertime.
To the OP, you are making some respectable progress! In the last couple of years there seem to be more folks willing to take on the task of rebuilding a TT....Looks like you are doing a great job and please keep the progress pics coming!
