Oh, I am not saying its NOT doable and that there might be some intrinsic value in the deal, just suggesting the TT will always be "damaged". So in addition to the usual TT maintenance we all are blessed with, there will also be "salvaged" maintenance.
One reason why many of us buy new TT's (which the OP did) is to enjoy years of "trouble free" use. If the OP wanted a fixer up project, then he certainly could have purchased a damaged trailer and created the workplace to work on said project. But he bought new for immediate enjoyment and now has this "opportunity".
But, if one can acquire something damaged for $4k, refurbish it for a couple of stacks of Benjamins, then use it or sell it for a profit--who am I to stand in the way?
Some of us buy new (paying a premium), some of us buy used (paying a discount), and some of us buy fixer upper (purchasing parts and contributing one's labor). All are good paths to the same destination.
