Storing Propane Tanks

If you are afraid of theft, take the tanks and battery home with you. Don't forget to bring the battery back next time or else your brake-away won't function.

If you are afraid to store the propane inside the garage, simply store it outside and then no worries at all.

I personally store mine inside the basement of the house, right beside my batteries, spray paint, propane-fired furnace, propane-fired water heater... you see where I'm going with that right LOL.

I'm lucky to live here. I don't even lock my doors. Lost the key years ago. Just not a problem in my area.

I agee about moving, but some can't afford to. I am fortunate that I live in a good neighborhood. It could happen here too.

No offence intended, but some you need to move to a better "hood" :W

If you suspect that there might be a security problem, Then be sure to take the house batteries too. Thieves are Stealing them right and left to sell to junk yard dealers and others. People are reporting the theft of their batteries from the TT's parked in their driveways.

One of the reasons they up-dated the valves in propane tanks a few years ago was to limit the amount of propane that could be put into the tank. It forces the person filling the tank to leave a place for the liquid propane to expand to if the temperature rises. If you happen to have a full tank with the old style valve do not store it inside as it can blow propane past its spring loaded safety,fill a confined area with propane and could result in a violent explosion with any ignition source like a light switch being turned on. Always carefully check any tank that contains compressed flammable gas for leaks before storing in a confined space.

Meth manufacturing methods have changed significantly. They no longer use propane cylinders in the manufacture. In fact, all they use these days is a single 2 liter soda bottle.
