May 14, 2015The recirculating hoods aren't completely useless. While they do very little on removing heat and smells, they do a decent job of capturing grease particles and other vapors out of the air. The only drawback I can see to removing it is that you'll probably have to clean the stove and counter/wall surfaces more often. Since the hood is nice and close to the cooking surface, it can easily suck up bits of grease and vapor before it gets a chance to deposit on surfaces. While the Fantastic fan has quite a few more CFM than the hood, it's pretty far away. But since you say you don't cook anything messy, you probably could just remove the whole thing.
