My vent fan at home is a recirculating version, and I use my gas range a great deal, with no problems. No different than cooking on a RV range.
I don't think you need to be concerned about safety, since you are only using the range when you are up and about, with doors opening etc and possibly a window open. Your RV is NOT so airtight that you get zero fresh air.
I'm not concerned about safety. Unfortunately, our smoke detector is about 3 feet above the stove and about a foot to the left. Pretty much anytime we cook on the stove, the smoke detector goes off. Fortunately, the oven doesn't seem to cause it to go off, but the stove does. Even with the fan on, it is still too hot for the smoke detector.
-Michael - Searching_UtExplorerMy microwave has a vent fan and sits above the stove, but it only runs if I have AC power. Not sure of the logic in that being as how I thought part of the reason to own an RV was to camp without hookups when desired. I wired in an inverter, but it stills seems like a dumb setup.
- rekoj71ExplorerI have the microwave but it just recirculates back into the RV. I hardly use it. I use the Fantastic Fan above that so that the steam gets out of the RV but of course that means that I have to clean the grease off of it now.

A vent fan in a RV is good to help remove heat (as needed) and/or odors. - mgirardoExplorer

I can't believe a bought a new class C with no vent hood over the stove. Should I be worried over this? Can I add a vent hood? I cook a lot on the stove and worry about this problem.
When we bought our MH in 2009, I noticed the exhaust outside for the Range Hood, but never realized it didn't actually have a Range Hood. I thought maybe it was built into the Microwave. It wasn't. First time I used the Microwave fan, it just blew right back into the MH. I asked the dealer about it, who called Jayco. The dealer was told by Jayco that is how it is supposed to be. I asked why is there an exhaust if there is actual hood, the dealer didn't have an answer.
-Michael - rockhillmanorExplorerSadly the newer RV's do NOT vent outside. All they have is a filter above the stove usually under the micro. :(
It still should have a fan built in somewhere within the filter area. If yours does not have a fan switch installed I'd be calling the dealership. This could be a manufacturing problem where it was accidentally not installed. Either way I WOULD call and find out.
IMHO that just seems stupid to suck up grease smoke just to get stuck inside a filter. :R
It was one of the reasons I didn't buy a new one when they started eliminating the exhaust fan that actually exhausted 'outside' the RV. - ronfishermanModeratorChecked out 2017 Dynamax Isata 3. Nice MH. But like you say no vent for stove. From pictures looks like A/C is in area for a ceiling vent. There may be room for a went above stove.
- ScottGNomadOUr TT is the same way. I installed a Fantastic Fan in the vent over the kitchen that is thermostatically controlled. After lighting the range the heat is enough to turn on the F fan automatically. It does a great job of venting the whole kitchen.
I don't specifically recommend Fantastic Fan though. After being bought by Dometic their fans were redesigned to be noisy and less effective (I have both old and new). Any brand will do. - belairbrianExplorerSure it's not built in to the microwave?
- DutchmenSportExplorerIf you have a microwave above the stove, more than likely the microwave has a built in "vent", but not vented to the outside. It has a fan the draws steam and grease through a filter and exhausts it back into the air with vents around the microwave. More and more in-home microwave-vent-hoods are like this.
Now, if there is nothing above the stove except wood, or a wooden cabinet, then you can install a hood yourself. The hood in our camper is vented inside the camper, not outside. It's designed to just catch steam and grease in the filter. The filter has to be cleaned often if using it. We never use it because it's so noisey, and we usually cook outside.
