Stuck Rieco Titan Jack

Yah, they're ticky little ones...

I'm assuming you tried to "Pull it down" with motor clicking.
Might check the battery in the remote unit if you have one. I've had to replace several, they'll activate, but one won't. You said it's clicking so it's getting juice. sounds like it's just Stuck to hard to break loose to lower, maybe pull it down trying to unlock it. Hand crank would be the next step...

Standing by for a solution as I'm sure it'l happen on this end too. I have broken the power plug and was told it'a a whole new jack... Whaaaat???? yep, can't just replace the plug cord, although, I did, found a like plug and cut and connected the new one to the old wire. Works.. so just in case..

I've had luck rocking the switch just barely stabbing it and it has freed up the jack. I also had a power head strip out and when I opened it up and saw the spiral gear that needed replacement, I was hoping for just a simple part replacement. I ended up having to order a new one as they don't replacement parts (according to them).

I accidentally put one of mine up too high once. I just used a 3/8" ratchet in the access hole on top and gave a slight turn down and then was able to lower the jack with the motor/remote as normal.

Glad I have he manual units. My wife on one side, me on the other with 2 DeWalt cordless drills and 2 jack adapters and it's a 5 minute raise-lower job.

RT's have an internal oil port in the top of each leg, under the bevel gears. I give mine a shot every few months.

Mine just did the same thing last week. I had no problem raising the camper to load it lowered it fine. Went to raise it again and one of the Jack's just started clicking. I used a 3/8 ratchet and short extension to turn it a few times and then it started to work again.

The motors and control box are what I consider absurdly expensive. I know you can buy them individually on Flea-Bay and most likely from RT in Frankfort, Illinois.

This evening I went out to try to crank the jack down. I turned it clockwise with a 3/8 inch rachet like the instructions at Rieco Titan said but the jack foot only turned slightly & I was not able to even budge the jack down a little. I am wondering if anyone has ever disassembled one? Is it easy for a dummy to do or will I get in trouble? I wouldn't think it could be too complicated. I looked for information or drawings of the inside but came up with nothing. There is nothing on the Rieco Titan web site about the jack. Kind of at a dead end unless I just start taking it apart & I am not to confident in doing that.

Pretty simple; release the set screws and the top comes off (motor). Gears there (the reduction gears), and you'll be able to see if something is jammed/gear wedged, etc.

or stripped. I believe there is a horizontal gear driving a vertical gear that spirals movement up or down. It was packed with grease and I think the spiral gear was getting shallow. Those grooves and ridges are angled? and the horizontal gear would grab and jump (not stay synched). I tried to rebuild but to no avail-
Rieco had it on a bench and I was clearly out of warranty but they never looked at it. When I followed up, there were some apologies and they did discount my purchase of a new head.

The lower should not turn more than maybe 1/8 of a rotation. The inner (telescoping) leg is splined to the outer tube (for lack of a better term and is restrained from turning.

I would imagine the insides are like an implement jack where you have an upper thrust bearing that the screw ride on and a threaded rod and travelling nut that engages the upper gears to move the inner leg up and down.

RT has no breakdown or parts list anywhere that I can find. Nice of them to have the 'just replace it ' attitude.
