Stuff in water lines

And if you're not paying attention and already have the tip out setup near your shoulder, it is possible to jump back, hit the faucet and never drop your water hose, which is apparently more important than protecting your shoulder ;)

At one time I used to think it was smart (???) to do the tip outs, then crawl under it to hook up the water line. Forest for the trees...

For the calcium or deposits...

Your hot water tank likely has a drain plug. If so, use it when filled and without any pressure so it drains slowly, then add water to stir it up again and repeat. You may have to stick a small piece of plastic (ie end of zip tie, NOT metal!) into the drain if it clogs with sediment.

If it is REALLY bad, and you are careful, you should be able to attach a host to your TP (relief) valve and slowly add water with the inside water line valves closed and let it flush out the drain valve.

Make sure to open the relief valve and although the pressure is fine, don't allow too much water volume at once, which can be hard on the little "stick" inside the relief valve.

Could be some of the deposits that form inside the water heater from the anode rod doing its duty. When on city water there is more pressure and flow that probably stirs them up enough to get in the hot water line from the WH.

Calcium deposits sounds like it. Same color and somewhat squishy. Keep dem feets out from the faucet, especially in cold weather!

Its calcium deposits. We get it here in central NY in our home faucets. It's white little grains that will crumble when squeezed between your fingers.

What kind of hose are you using to connect to city water? Is it white and in good shape?

Are you using a regulator or anything? Make sure all your items connected are in good condition (valves, regulators, wyes, etc)

Another thing to be sure about is BEFORE connecting to the CG supply line, open the valve on the CG supply and momentarily open it wide enough to blow out any crud or things in the line.

Oh- be sure to be BEHIND the valve when you open it and keep your feet out of the way ;)

I get the same salt grain sized granules from city water which is hard. Nothing more than minerals.

Do you have a Suburban water heater? It could be bits of your anode rod. Regardless of water heater make have you flushed it lately? Might just be sediment from the heater, be it Atwood or Suburban. Since most hot water is used in the kitchen it makes sense that is the worst one.
