Suggestion

Would you recommend travel trailer to use traveling all over USA? Read somewhere to not do this. If we are starting to look around and and don't want to regret if we buy a more expensive 5th wheel

No right or wrong. It's all personal choice. Depends on your needs and wants.

    Ditto.
  • Take your pick....but start with a tow vehicle first...
We wanted the bed of our truck free for stuff so we went travel trailer.
  • A good 3/4 ton diesel and a 32'+ TT would be ideal for long term travel.
Northwood and Grand Design make some nice long term TT's. Open Range is another.
  • It's all in what works best for you, another consideration is the tow vehicle being used. For most newer 1/2 tons there will be lots of choices when looking at travel trailers, 5ers are pin heavy and will exceed payload capacity way before reaching towing capacity making choices in 5th wheels slim. There are some ultra-lite 5ers out there that can be towed with a half-ton TV, although under the same scenario I would opt for a more solidly built, full featured travel trailer for perusing our great nation.
  • We only spend a few months at a time away rarely more then a few days in one place but a TT worked fine for us for many years.
A 5th wheel has stairs which we both could do without. We only went with a MH this time because the hitch was getting heavy and leveling was starting to be a pain.
  • There's lots of people full timing in TTs. Maybe more in 5th wheels and Class As, but still a lot of people in TTs. And surprisingly, some of them in fairly small TTs.

Starting out in a TT, and a used one at that, is a good way to see if you like full timing. If you want to move up to something larger, you can without taking a large financial hit on the TT. Another reason to buy used is even if you want to stay with a TT, you might want to change from your first one for either a larger one or a different floor plan.
