SUP / surfboard / gear rack ideas

Hi All,

Just got a 2009 Bigfoot 15C8.2 for my 2015 F350. The camper is in great shape and almost perfect for us with very little modification. What I am looking for is options to carry SUP’s both inflated and deflated in storage bags, surfboards, and other items. I like the idea of being able to carry boards on the side of the camper (possibly jack mountated?) for short trips and on the roof for highway driving and long trips. The roof mounted stuff of course has to clear the roof vents etc. I’m not too keen on the rear mounted vertical storage for a few reasons like increase length, increased height, etc. I’d love to hear or see your ideas for side mount storage and custom roof racks! ! Thanks.

I put my surfboards inside while traveling. I am building a holder for them for the side of the truck while I am on the beach.

My roof racks are already full of solar panels :)

I like that idea, I was thinking of using a J shaped surf/SUP wall mount and making a bracket to install one on each jack.
  • Start with measuring how wide is your camper.
Some of them are 8' wide and when jacks and mirrors don't count, the cargo might make it requiring "Oversize load" signs.
If camper is 7-6" you might have legal space for a board.
For my 16' canoe I made rack on the roof.
When camper had factory railings on the rear, I put long piece across tor canoe support and than I add bracket right behind front skylight. That required drilling 2 holes and I put lag bolts with the heads on ceiling side. My canoe goes over AC, while with flat boards you might try something else.
