- dadmomhExplorerWe had the High Wind Gizmos for our ROO. IF there was a weakness it's that the little clips didn't hold well enough and for a long enough period of time. Problem solved with a trip to Harbor Frieght for a canister of assorted colors - buy 2 canisters, they come in handy for a ton of things. We never had a problem with ours sliding down. We always took a 4' ladder as part of the standard camping equipment and that got us us plenty high enough to use slightly larger, stronger clips at the top...as far under the lip of the opening as possible. Then just worked our way down - usually about 5 - 6 clips per side. The bungies simply wrapped once around the bumper and clipped back onto itself. Never had a problem.
We always put our blue side up in the cooler weather and the silver side up in the summer. I know Bob says that it makes no difference, and I'd bet he's right, but at least we "thought" it made sense to us, so we did it. They made a world of difference in moderating the temps.
The ONLY time we took a gizmo off due to wind, was with 50+ mph winds hitting straight onto the back bunk. It was taking a beating and rather then try to chase it down later, DH just went and took it off. The front gizmo stayed right where we put it. They're worth their weight in gold. - WavespriteExplorer IIIf you look at the "Pictures of your Hybrids" post, page 142 at the bottom of the page, you can see our HTT with the high wind gizmos on them, you can see the little clips at the top holding them on. Even though we have our PUGS green side up (and I guess that doesn't make a difference in performance), you can see the clips.
It was very windy that afternoon and night at the beach and it's true, they were LOUD flapping around. - HockeyTownMomExplorerOk, so we're not doing it wrong. lol
- MerliskExplorerI bought the super high wind gizmos and they work well. You're right in that the clips are needed to keep them from sliding down. That part doesn't work too well. With very high winds, they stay on well enough but don't expect much sleep due to the flapping. I had to remove them from one bunk end during our February camping trip. I just couldn't sleep due to the wind whipping the ends of the gizmos against the fabric right above my head.
This past week, though, they were a life saver. Between the outside ones and the inside bunk end gizmos, our AC was actually able to keep up with ~100F temps here in Texas. - bikendanExplorer

I don't understand this comment. Putting the green side up and teh silver side down doesn't work for what? The silver isn't reflective paint, it's a fabric....there's nothing to "rub off"?
what Bob Pitney at PUGs says is, that they have found no advantages to reversing the PUGs, for colder weather.
meaning that they have found no differences in turning the silver side down to retain heat in cold weather vs leaving the silver side up in cold weather. - WavespriteExplorer II

Pugz says green up is Not going to work. Who knows, maybe the tents rub off the reflective paint.

Also, the high wind Pugz do come with clips....if you don't clip them to the top of the door frame, they slide down. My husband and I have talked about putting velcro up there, but we haven't done it yet.... - HockeyTownMomExplorerIf he doesn't clip the top of the bunk, they slide down.
- PAThwackerExplorerSuper high wind does not use clips. Long straps!
- HockeyTownMomExplorerWe just used ours for the first time last weekend...dh hates them as we still need to clip them and they slide down. Any trouble-shooting tips? What's he doing wrong? We used to have the high wind version.
- BroncosFanExplorerAnyone us velcro to leave gizmo on when folded up? Hook side on roof & 'soft' side on gizmo
