I have pulled a 6000# TT with and without an old style Reese Dual Cam WD hitch for years . The Dual Cam is a bit more than simple sway control . It puts more pressure on the outside when going around a curve , similar to a sway bar . From my experience it's worth it . With this system , and there are others , the truck with TT handles as good or better than the truck alone .
With WD every manufacturer rates their hitch extension higher than without , there must be a reason .
I don't care much for the separate friction bars . There friction adjustment can change with the weather , rain , snow , sun , either giving you too much or too little control .
My 2 cents , take it for what it's worth .
