Surge Suppressor

Going from fifth wheel with 50 amp system to a travel trailer with 30 amp system. We have a "Camco Dogbone 50M/50F RV Circuit Analyzer with Power Grip Handles, Integrated Surge Protection and Fault Indication - 125/250V (55319)". Will that surge suppressor function properly using a 50 amp to 30 amp adapter? Or do we need to by a 30 smp surge suppressor?

Just get the proper one to ensure it will work.  A 50 amp unit is 240 volt and the 30 amp unit 120 volt, so it may work with an adapter, but not properly and the entire point is to properly protect your camper.

  • No, the 50 amp surge suppressor is designed for a 50 amp system and may not function correctly or safely when used with a 30 amp adapter. For proper protection, you should use a 30 amp surge suppressor that matches your travel trailer's electrical system.
