Looks like you raised the trailer 4-6 inches. You may need to extend the equalizer frame mount to get proper shackle angle.

The axles were moved. The springs were not. The spring geometry has not changed. Just make sure the spring end of each shackle is above the equalizer when you let it down off the jack.

I'm glad it worked out for you. I used to flip them when building trailers and they would get like that when I was installing the axles with the frame upside down. I used a large bar across the shackle pins and they will pull right around. You can't do that with it right side up because of the weight and you don't have room for the leverage. With the shackles in the right position, that will never happen again with weight on them.

I put your advise into practice yesterday evening after work. I have to thank my Mom for buying me a Harbor Freight "long frame" floor jack for my birthday years ago, as without that, I don't think I would have had enough "reach" with the jack to get the low side axle to flip.

However....Just as you two stated, I jacked under the low side spring near the shackle and when I did that it started moving the spring up and then when it got close to the tipping point, BANG, it flipped so that the spring was in the up position as the one behind it already was! :)

I will tell you I didn't like the sudden BANG when the spring flipped, as I sometimes worry about what big shock waves like going going through the TT will do to things (loosen things up?), but I figure, it can't be any worse that if I hit a pothole with it somewhere and I'm sure that's happened plenty in it's 24 yrs of life.

SO all is well, and after I got the axle issue straightened out, I went ahead and loaded all of my families classic camping gear into it (I did a full interior clean over the weekend).

It brings back so many memories of my youth and camping with my Mom, Dad and brother. I still have the same plastic cups we used, the coffee cup I made for my Dad when I was in Cub Scouts with a hand-drawn picture of our old 1978 Terry Taurus on it, my parents Owl Awning lights (they are a classic!), the old plates we used, ETC.

It's more work now that I'm older and have kids of my own, but I focus on my Boys and the enjoyment they will get out of camping and I want to pass camping onto them and hopefully they will pass it onto their kids someday.

At any rate, sorry for the short story, but I really do appreciate you all and your help very much. As I've said before, one of the things I love about camping is that the majority of campers are a friendly, helpful bunch and I always try to help a fellow camper in need.

Edit - I think one reason the shackles seem to be "reaching" is because with the forward shackle in the wrong position, the distance between the two tires is increased so they are "spread apart" more than they should be.

NEVER jack on the equalizer link, jack on the frame. Agree the spring geometry didn't change when you flipped the axles, so it will pop back into place just by jacking up the low side spring as huntindog says.
