Good shopping practice would be to look under a new trailer you are considering, and ensure the trailer is original equipped with axles of adequate capacity. My funfinder has two, 2800 pound axles. The trailer weighed just under 3600 pounds as it left the factory, and currently weighs right at 4000 pounds. Of that 4000, about 3400 is on the axles ( according to the CAT scale ). My point is, I have plenty of "extra axle capacity". I've pulled close to 30,000 miles now over the last four years, the suspension still works as it should.
