I'm also owner of a Northwoods product. I doubt NW would install a under sized axle. But wouldn't be the first time NW had axle problem. Your axle most likely came from Dexter Axle across the street from NW factory in La Grande OR. I also had a problem. My problem was minor and in the era of the buyout between Al-KO and Dexter. But that was years ago now. My axles ended up with a castellation nut with the grooves at the end going the wrong way. (Try getting a cotter pin in with the grooves going wrong way:). So I know they mess up sometimes. I would look thru your info or crawl underneath and look for decal on the axle tube to find what axel model you have or had. Decal probably in middle facing forward. Then look here for right warranty if you don't have one already.
http://www.dexteraxle.com/searchAfter you find out what axel you have (by model number) I would e-mail NW and see what they said they put under it. Numbers should match. If numbers don't match NW might stand behind their mistake. I haven't had a bad dealing with them yet. And for me NW went beyond what I would of done. We bought used unit and didn't want to pay for warranty. Turned out unit was missing several things. I called and explained that I bought it used and I don't have any warranty but some stuff wasn't put in when you folks made it in the first place couple years ago. They asked for pics and vin number. About 1 week later, couple boxes stuff showed up on my door steep NO CHARGE. NW had absolutely no obligation as unit was 2 years old and I'm second owner. Dave or Doug Mann was the person I spoke with.
