I know everyone has their opinions, and that's fine. My take is this: you have to pass a test to get a driver's license. You have to pass another test to get a cycle endorsement. Another for a chauffeur's license. Even more to get a cdl. Yet anyone with that lowest driver's license can go hook up a 5 or 6 ton, 30' brick with no training, experience or testing required. I think that speaks volumes to many of the rv accidents/incidents we hear and see about.
having a license to RV is not going to stop Rv accidents.
All the training and licenses in the world are not going to help you if a wind storm picks up, blown tire, 2000lb moose jumps in front of you, black ice and you lose control. I believe there would be 1000 of well experienced veteran OTR drivers that have accidents.
Duh! We're not talking about eliminating all accidents. By your logic no one should need a license for anything. Driving, hunting, doctor, lawyer - just go do it. Wow! That would be awesome!
I've been on black ice more than once where the trailer was perpendicular to the lane dragging the ass of the truck around. I knew what to do to control that and straightened it out in a couple seconds. Let's see some inexperienced driver do that.
But the only way to get experienced is to go do it...not read a manual and write a test...that's all a drivers license is. I do not believe my logic means that no one should need a license...doctors and lawyers are in a different category and hunting licenses are more for revenue than proving hunting knowledge. My point is ,having to get an endorsement for a RV would not eliminate any accidents because knowing what to do in a situation and actually doing it are 2 totally different things. All it would do is make Rv'ing less attractive for some and just become another revenue stream for government.
You were an inexperienced rv'er once as well.... you didn't start out with all this knowledge and you were never going to get it from a manual.
