Switch from Class C to TT

Check the cargo capacity of the Jeep. Just saying. I haven't seen a vehicle out there that doesn't run out of cargo capacity before it runs out of tow capacity.

Of course, the OP doesn't have to currently break camp with his Minnie Winnie. He mentioned he has a Jeep toad.

A TT is the best fit for us.

#1 More than likely you will be driving/pulling a much longer combo than you do now with the Class C & Toad.

#3 I'm not sure what the difference is when camping for an "extended time". Since you're pulling a toad currently, you don't have to break camp with the Winnie. You have the toad to sight see, run errands with.

Since you already have the Minnie Winnie and the Jeep as Toad, will you be able to sell them and then buy a tow vehicle and travel trailer and come out ahead.

Now, if you currently have a quality right sized tow vehicle at home, you may come out ahead.

The 30' Minnie Winnie Class C is great for getting into most places. Even Walgreens or fast food place. Just gotta make the supply list and check it twice and get more then ya need. I never cook tho. All microwave.

Since you have your truck probably makes sense to go with a TT.

I'm thinking about a 2007-2008 Class A and may sell MW if I do move up.

BTW, the Triton V-10 tows the AWD Jeep Cherokee just fine.

I had a TT, then went to a class c, then a bigger class c, and now back to a TT with a slide. I like the TT because we can leave it set up and head out with the truck. The class c worked nicely when the kids were young; they could watch TV, play games, use the bathroom, etc., all while on the road. Now, for my wife and I, it is not a big deal to pull into a rest area to use your own bathroom and sit for a bite to eat, or take a nap. I still had to pull over to do that with the class c because crusie control could only do so much! You are the only one who can decide which will work for you, and which you are more comfortable driving. I had a tow dolly to bring another car with us behind the class c, and I was not a fan of that. You can fairly easily back a trailer out of a situation, but you can't back a tow dolly that easily. The Cherokee is rated to tow 7300-lbs.It has the 5.7-L Hemi engine. Same engine in the Dodge trucks.

Don't get tunnel vision on that 7300 lb number. Unless you weigh 150 lb, travel alone, and have no cargo, you will run out of payload before you get close to that.

I would also be careful of trailers in that weight range, because of their length. The short wheelbase of your Jeep, would not be a good match.

The Hemi has plenty of power to pull something like that, but, you also need to be able to control any side to side motion, and be able to stop that trailer.

I have a Grand Cherokee, great car, wife says she is going keep it until the wheels fall off, then buy another one, but, I don't think it would make a good tow vehicle. I also have a 7300 lb trailer. No way would I hitch that up to the Jeep.

rockhill & jayco - Your right. I've been here at Oak Mnt for a month now and watched many a weekend warrior pull in and fuss with their TTs. Then some drive 10-miles to go eat HA!.

Now the folk that volunteer and stay for months all stay in TTs. Yeah, if your gonna squat a spell a TT probably makes sense.

I like the idea of putting in park, hit the brake and the cool one HA!
