Synthetic Oil for Towing?
I have a 2007 Chev 2500HD 6.0L gas with 36K Are there any benifits of using say Mobil 1 5w30 synthetic for the towing season? Or is regular 5w30 just as good?

I sent a query to Valvoline and Chrysler about 5w-20 and synthetics. A rep with Valvoline said all 5w-20 is synthetic blend. Labeled synthetic blends have a higher content of synthetic in them. A Chrysler engineer involved in the R&D of the 5.7L Hemi said if he were towing as much weight as we tow in the heat of the southeast, he would use a full synthetic just in case the temp in bearings or rings got hotter than conventional oil was rated for. Just his opinion of course. So, I use Mobil-1 for no other reason than it helps me sleep better. I'll be using it in the Prius as well just in case the engine ever starts. :B
