Question:
If Towing Prevents the Use of Mobil 1 5W-20, Identify the Correct Oil
I just purchased an '06 Ford E450 motor home with the V10 engine, I noticed on the back of the Mobil 1 5W-20 synthetic it said that it was not good for towing. I use 5W-20 in all of my trucks. What should I use as a specific oil for this motor home?

Answer:
The comment indicating the Mobil 1 5W-20 is not recommended for towing refers to our Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5W-20 product with extended oil change intervals of 15,000 miles. ExxonMobil does not recommend extreme drain intervals for vehicles involved in towing, racing and commercial services as they tend to be severe operating conditions that require more frequent oil change intervals even with a high quality synthetic engine oil. If your vehicle recommends a 5W-20 engine oil then Mobil 1 5W-20 will provide excellent performance. Otherwise, use the viscosity recommended in your owner’s manual. - wildtoadExplorer IIHow often do you change your oil? It appears you don't put many miles on your truck so I doubt you will reap any benefits for paying a higher price for oil.
- jackshephardExplorerSynthetic will not Break down as quickly as conventional oil, so for peace of mind I would go with that.
