synthetic oil or not
The Honda 2000 generator says to use sae 10-30w but doesnt specify if it needs to be synthetic or not. Does anyone use high quality oil or is it overkill?

I’ve been using Mobile 1 in my EU2000 since new; I do the same with my Honda snow blower and Honda lawn mower. It is much easer to start in cold weather and it holds so little oil the cost is not an issue.
Some people worry that synthetic oil hampers the break in process; I tell them that the factory fill in my Corvette ZO6 was Mobile 1 and that all thats it has ever had.
