Just to be clear many " synthetic " oils are derived from conventional dino oil base stock. Only in the U.S. ( I believe ) is this allowed. Some manufacturers take virgin conventional oil stock and via additives and processing steps come up with an oil that can be sold as synthetic. When looking at the label on the oil it is NOT easy to determine if you are really getting true synthetic or not. Now that we have that out of the way, either type of synthetic is superior over conventional oil in regards to temperature protection, shear strength and it's ability to keep the inside of the engine clean. But conventional oil has come a long ways also from the good old days. It really is a personal choice. It doesn't hurt to have oil analysis done to really know what is going on with the oil in your application. Not just some guys on a forum talking but actual scientific data. Have fun.
