synthetic oil or not
The Honda 2000 generator says to use sae 10-30w but doesnt specify if it needs to be synthetic or not. Does anyone use high quality oil or is it overkill?

I use Valvoline synthetic oil in my 10KW welding generator, which has a Kohler CH20 gas engine. Have been using the synthetic oil in it since '07 and the motor is in very good shape still.
I started out using the synthetic-blend oil, in the red bottle, but that became unavailable locally a couple years ago, so I switched to the full synthetic, in the silver bottle, still from Valvoline.
