I'm sorry but your understanding of this system is inaccurate and your statement is the same.
These engines had multiple injection events long before DPF came along. Further more, it does not cause "unburned fuel" to enter the crankcase. Why would another event cause more unburned fuel in the CC than the first event?
The soot in the CC is not "unburned fuel" from the cylinder, it's exhaust soot from the exhaust via the EGR. In this case soot and unburned fuel are two very different things.
The soot comes from the EGR process - not form the extra injection event.
The so called "extra shot" doesn't even happen unless RPM's are quite high.
