In the spirit of full disclosure, I'll admit I run synthetic (Quaker State) in our Edge with its 2.0 EcoBoost. My '00 F250 went 185,000 miles on semi-synthetic Motorcraft oil. The F-150 I had before that one ran 230,000 miles on the old fashioned stuff. I've put over 100,000 miles on quite a few vehicles using conventional oil. I use synthetics, they're good oils. But if money was an issue I wouldn't hesitate to use conventional oil where applicable.
(And I would never consider McDonalds good, certainly not "good enough." :-)
