Just had a question for you folks. When is it ok to change out the old dino oil and replace it with synthetic? I just changed our oil at about 10,000 miles, second change, and wonder if I should loo...

0 need to. 10K is not an extended change for a Duramax. It's around a base change.
If you really, really, really want to split hairs if you change the filter out sooner it won't filter as well.
A filter plugs up the holes in the media as it filters. The older the filter the better it filters until it won't flow anymore oil.
Follow the MANUFACTURES RULES and you can't go wrong. I don't think GM says to change the filter at 5K. So why would you want to do this? :)
