I've heard dino oil should be used in the first 10000 miles because it is not as slippery as syn oil, so the cross hatch on the cylinder walls gets a nice wear down/polishing with dino oil. Then can syn be used. But that goes back 15 years, and seeing that engines come out of the factory with syn oil (Mercedes Benz engines that propell the ever so familiar school buses go 35 thousand miles before the first oil change!), it's probably less important today. Second point, ideally, the oil filter should be replaced halfway through the planned oil change interval.
