What attributes are important to you folks?
Vaporization? A component to vaporization are temp range & flash point
Film strength? What PSI min is desired for you guys? 100,000 PSI is
my min and anything lower I consider mud hen level...
Zinc isn't the end all, but is necessary. It's performance vs temp critical
Moly is now in most 'good' engine oils...how much do you guys want in your oil?
Some has over 100x over others and some zero to not disclosed.
Particle size isn't spec'd, but assume it is in the <3 micron range.
I add my own and switching to tungsten disulfide because my moly
source retired. You guys know why the oil OEM's are now adding moly?
Has to do with 'dry' starts and running hot. Graphite okay, but does
not coat...nor has the PSI ratings of metal (moly and tungsten)
Esters and digesters, what types do you want? Newer esters do NOT soften seals
as much as the older versions. Digesters?
Oh well...no difference between preferences of badging, half ton vs higher class,
'ST' vs anything else, diesel vs gasser, etc
Snake oil and additives sell huge...yes I do use exotic metals in all of my
automotive lube's except for ATF & clutch diff's...too slippery
