Take along Ladder?

Anyone find the need for a take along with you ladder?

I will be putting solar panels on the roof of my Hybrid and want to be able to have access to them anytime.

I am thinking about getting one of those telescoping ladders. Has anyone had experience with them?

  • I carry a 6 foot a-frame ladder that folds up and it travels in my rear bumper. Would that give you enough height to see what you are after?
  • i just use a $25 4' lightweight ladder i got at WallyWorld.
i've been using it for around 8 years, when camping in our Roo.

but i use my 6' ladder for getting on top of it. but i don't take it camping.
  • We have one of those and they're awesome, but overkill for your purpose. We just got a good 4' ladder at Lowe's and it does everything you'll need to put the Gizmos on. Also came in really handy when we had a monsoon and we'd left the awning out....had to remove all the remains and put into the back of the truck to get home. Another lesson learned.

Reread your post and you said solar PANELS...I was thinking the bunkend Gizmos. Yep, for the panels you're going to need something taller. They are dandy, but agree on being pricey.
  • Seen them in use a number of times. Spendy little gadget, though.
