Had a 1968 Mustang fastback with a Hy-Po 390/4 speed and one had to remove the cross bar and front engine mounts to jack up the engine to change plugs. Base garage advertised a $39.00 tune up. Went for it and when finished, manager told me NOT to ever bring it back. LOL. Six hours for a tune-up. Still ran like a scalded dog. My 1969 427 Camaro was a simple deal to tune except for the weekly valve adjustment to street race Saturday nite. Had 4.56 rear gears and a M22 "rock crusher" four speed. Those were the days. $50.00 a shot and run what you brung.
Your speaking my language. I have a '66 Fairlane GT with the 390 and plugs weren't too bad to change in that. Even with poor compression and years of abuse, that sucker lit the tires with ease. Massive bottom end! Hoping to restore it someday. Sitting in the garage for many years now. It was my first car and I'm never selling it.
