I assume a product that is sold by multiple reputable dealers has been tested and rated correctly. I have no doubt about the quality and capability of the Torklift product line. My ideal solution would be an extension fabricated from 2.5" solid stock but I've yet to find that. The closest I've seen is the Titan extensions. Those are a bit pricey (compared to the 2" extensions) and too long for my intended setup. However, if I went with one, they don't reduce capacity at all.
Safety is #1 and I wouldn't have started the thread if I just wanted to bolt on the cheapest option. Thanks for all the input!
Whoever told you that tell them put down the crack pipe. I don't care who makes the extension. Any extension, no matter what it is made of will reduce the hitch capacity, period!! An extension will reduce your 1800# hitch down to 900# even down to 600#! It would be one thing to lose a boat but if you want to gamble the lives of your horses to save a couple bucks then that's up to you. I would not trust anything less than a Super Hitch. JMHO
