TC and toys

Where are these ladies? I found most truck stops to be safer than Walmart. I typically nose into the bay at the truck stop so my trailer is closer to diesel engines and our cab over is near the rear of the semi trailer. Our cab over has a full wardrobe on one side and dual pane window on the other, so it may be insulated better than some others.

I'd rather stay in a Wally World lot or a rest area then a truck stop. I prefer not to be lulled to sleep by diesel fumes or have some lady of the night knocking on my door at 3Am wanting a 'date'....:D

I bought my current truck and camper becuase the toy hauler was more space than I needed, and I got in to Jeeping and wanted to take my Jeep with me. Jeep thing was short lived, but I stuck with motorcycling since I have them too.

I had two trailers for a while, 6x12 and a 8.5'x20'.

I sold the 6x12 in 2014 and just use the 20 footer for all sorts of stuff, from motorcycling, to hauling stuff for trade shows, etc.

I added a Polaris Ranger to the fleet this year but haven't taken it on any trips yet.

For us, it is getting to our farther destinations where the enclosed trailer helps. If we spend the night in a parking lot or truck stop, we don't advertise what we are carrying. I also do not advertise the type of wired and wireless loss prevention mechanisms that are in place.

If I was concerned about people seeing what I had, I wouldn't be camping. I'd be staying at home.

I ain't got much anyway. An old 1997 Honda 400 Foreman and a 3 rail motorcycle trailer than carries it. I cable lock it to the trailer anyway. Not going anywhere without me. Besides, I wilderness camp so most times there are no other people around to nebbish.

Without trying to sound militaristic, I'm always armed when I camp and I routinely carry a sidearm in plain sight so I tend not to be concerned with anyone seeing what I have or don't have.

I'm legally licensed btw.

In all my years of camping, I've always had a firearm with me. I'm not paranoid but I do believe in self protection from wild animals of the 4 and 2 legged kind.

I'm not about to play a role in any 'Deliverance' scenario. you see, I typically truck camp in very remote and inacessable areas.

I find people have a much more respectful attitude in the presence of a person carrying, especially when that someone is open carrying... unless they are just stupid.

Besides an enclosed and locked trailer is a magnet for someone with malicious intent where as an open utility trailer with a quad on it presents no or little challenge for someone with criminal intent (so long as the ignition keys are in your pocket and not in the quad....
