TC bends frame of Dually - pic

I apologize if this has been posted before, I just saw this. It's not 'shopped (We have to resize pics for the forum, I have the higher-res original and looked it over pretty close). You can see obviously the frame is bent, rear bumper of camper damaged from hitting trailer tongue.

Anyone seen this before and have the back-story on it? All I have is the pic, no details. Since I haul a very heavy camper with a trailer, I'm quite concerned.

I also can't tell if this is a F350 or 450.

  • This photo was discussed on another thread. What stands out is the extended tongue on the trailer with no weight distribution. I questioned whether the trailer did not get rear ended applying force to the receiver down and under the frame. The same may have happened if this combo rear ended a semi or road barrier allowing the deceleration force of the trailer to buckle the truck.
  • Could the length of the trailer tongue act as a lever using the camper as a fulcrum and bend the frame due to weight, large bump in the road or driving in or out of a dip/driveway.
  • That's scary. Truck looks to be a newer model. I'll keep my fiver, though I think it would be fun to go wherever I wanted to go with a TC.
  • I really wonder about the photo. Not that it happened, but that it did happen. I do not see how enough weight could be in the rear of the truck to cause this. The TC, although heavy, is pretty much neutral in weight distribution. The trailer tongue appears to be pretty standard. I question it being as strong as the truck frame. My bet is the driver hot some kind of speed bump or equivalent, causing a whip effect and bent the frame.
