TC floor dimensions

Hey Everyone,

I have researched the best I can but I am not finding exact dimensions.

What would you say are the dimensions of your floor (and what do you have, please?)?

Also, if we removed the dinette from the TC how much more floor space would we have?

With a large older dog we need to give her as much floor space as possible, even if it means we loose the dinette (which we will reinstall once she passes on).

We're torn between a TC and extended cargo van conversion.

Thanks for your help,
Sailorv

  • Truck campers have evolved over the years. Floor space is sort of a relative term. All campers sit between the wheel wells in the bed of a truck and early models that is the floor space minus the framing. In some newer campers the floor is over the wheel wells adding some floor space. Some now are over the bed rails.

Slides add interior space but not space to walk, but maybe a space for a dog to lay.

In general I think you will find that modern slide truck campers will have more space for your dog than a van. Probably a bunch more if you consider being able to walk around yourself. Larger campers with slides will need a bigger truck to carry it.

We have 2 dogs that are each about 55 pounds and they seem to have no problem finding places to lay about and us to move around.
  • Having had good sized TC in the 90s on a long bed truck along with a larger Saint Bernard, he did just fine in there.

When you talk about removing the dinette, I assume you're talking about the seats also? If so, where are you going to sit or eat?

You also have to consider with an older larger dog that is hard to lift, how are you going to get it into the TC if it has or develops mobility problems?

Since it doesn't sound like you own a truck or TC yet, don't consider a short bed truck. Actually, I think you should look at a smaller Class C. It will have a lower entry and more room.
