TC in NYC

The boss had some business appointments in Washington DC, Trenton, NJ, Farmingdale, NY (on Long Island), and finally in Manhattan. I decided to chauffeur her in the TC rather than fly/hotel/cab/Uber etc. It was an adventure to say the least. Traffic, tolls, traffic, bridges, traffic, parkways (stayed off :) ). And then there was the traffic!

We got very lucky in Manhattan, and found a place to park about a block away from her appointment, and it wasn’t even a metered spot. I stayed with the truck in case I needed to move.

Anyways, here’s proof we was there with the TC. Didn’t do anything else in NYC but take care of business. BTDT, don’t need to do it again.

  • Honestly, that is why I have a truck camper. Because I can take it anywhere. That’s what they are best for.. They can go from any urban environment like that, to the complete wilderness. And everywhere in between.

I regularly bring mine into the city. And I regularly travel all over the place. Currently in the center of downtown Toronto in Canada. Not a problem at all. Step outside your door, and the entire world of food and interesting culture is right there. Or, change it up and step outside your door and there isn’t a human being for miles and miles. This is where a truck camper shines. That’s why I would never own another type of RV. Except maybe a class B van.
  • Yeah, the trip into Manhattan actually went better than I was expecting. The location of the appointment (west shore of lower Manhattan) was a huge factor in deciding that we could do this. There are short-term parking opportunities there that just don’t exist in midtown. I was also prepared to just drive around a short circuit if I had to. Had the appointment been in the crazy(er) part of the city, we would have fallen back to other plans which included bus, rail, cab, and Uber options.

Another thing that made this doable for us is being able to expense the insane tolls, and just take the most efficient route. It cost us $42 just to cross the GW bridge getting out to Long Island! :E I’d do it again if I’d have to, mainly because I want the boss to continue enjoying her career, but I hope the need doesn’t arise anytime soon. Business travel is really the only thing that’s not real fun for her, so I do what I can to make it better. Having our own bed, bathroom, transportation, and her cats is a big plus for her. Oh, and I’m in there somewhere as well. :w
