The rubber roof on my 19 yo Fleetwood holds just fine.
It is curved roof and camper most of the years was park in shaded areas, but it wasn't till last spring I recoated it with new Henry stuff.
Mostly as prevention, but also to cover some repaired mechanical damages.
I have a friend who's afraid to use any coating on his 5th wheel, but I think there are some coatings that stick well and are better than the original rubber EPDM. Now when you start by using an expensive, possibly a polyurathane base, I think you are opening the right door for easy maintenance in years to come. Of course I could be wrong, but feel with the right coating it would be easier to recoat areas that get worn or weathered over the years than redoing the 7-12 thousand dollar roof replacement.
