I put two 100 watt panels on the roof and it easily supplied all the electric needs. I have even disconnected the charge cable from the truck - no need for it. I probably could have gotten away with one 100W. Of course I live in California.
Solar really isn't very expensive anymore. Two 100W name brand panels cost me $288 with free shipping. An inexpensive controller would have been <$100, I opted for a more expensive one to track usage. Still well under what a genset would cost, without the noise, stink, and maintenance.
