I have a portable system we set up when boondocking in the desert (most of the other times we are in shade or overcast where the effort is not worth it). It is work to setup and tear down but it does do better than a fixed system for capturing energy. This was a low cost proof a concept test for me and will probably end up being mounted on top of my enclosed trailer so it has constant power instead of the tethered 7-pin feed from the TC. When the 7-pin is connected it will also back feed to the TC. As others have pointed out, a mounted system always running is the way the to go.
