That's a lot of F250s to Recall.

Exactly. I've done this for about the past 45 years. Why...why...would anyone not use their parking brake in these situations !

Because many are useless. The parking brake on my Magnum wouldn't hold on even a gentle grade, from day one, no matter how it was adjusted.

This is something I hate. Unfortunately, I see it all the time. People are too busy texting to worry about setting the brake.

I have successfully taught my kids to do the right thing and set the brake before shifting into park. Now all I need to do is somehow try to convince my wife to set the brake. I think negotiating peace in the Middle East would be easier.

No kidding. Threads like this are nothing more than trolling, in my opinion. Those that own trucks affected by this will received notifications, therefore there is no "public service" in posting this on a forum that is known for its brand bashing/loyalty.

Spring is almost here, hopefully these types of threads wind down for the next 6 months. 17 days until our next trip!

We went to the Vancouver Auto Show last week and I left thinking this problem is going to get bigger. Manufacturers are increasingly going to fly by wire shifters and I was surprised at how many have gone to a park button in their new vehicles. Of course, every manufacturer has a different idea of where to put it, instead of just putting the shift lever all the way forward or to the left as all automatics have been since they were invented.

The second link indicates it was all production from October 2015 till March 2017 inclusive, of the F250 6.2L. Hardly one month for that specific truck, and those dates include a majority of the 2016 production I'd guess so....

I must say, as someone with no 'monkey in this circus', there sure is a lot of brand loyalty out there it seems from this thread.

Glad I bought the 2016.

As for recalls, tons of auto manufacturers had had recalls, even Honda and Toyota.

53k trucks is maybe one month of production for an automaker the size of Ford.

At least they found the problem pretty fast, not like the Honda airbag recall for various models produced between 2004-2007, that they only started in 2015ish.

Took years for people to figure out that metal shards were being produced by deploying airbags.

Got rid of one Honda because of that fiasco. No manufacturer is immune to that sort of thing.

At least they are recalling them instead of pretending it doesn't happen. I think the ignition with GM and Volkswagen ordeal was a wake up call for the auto industry.

Lots of negative publicity and large fines.
