- nodepositnoretuExplorerI guess it was a broad question I would really like to have a recliner in it or stadium seating. That would be number one for me. Kohldad I guess your correct, why get a new one? The prices seem to be off the hook. . I thank everyone for the reply’s.
By best I was kind of thinking of quality construction by a small company , like a few years back a fellow was making Snowy Creek, or River units. They were like hand made, but he could not continue. He may be a member here? I sure wish I had one of his.. - jaycocreekExplorer III don't think there is a best truck camper and price certainly is not an indicator in my opinion...I see less complaints on the less expensive Adventurer campers then some of the high dollar ones.
For a TC it is floor plan/floor plan to me with dinette and view while in doors.View out is everything.. - kohldadExplorer IIIIf you aren't having problems with yours and enjoy the layout, why upgrade? Newer ones aren't necessarily any better than what you have which I'm sure is paid off. If you have been maintaining it, it will still give you another 10 or 20 years of service.
IMO, the best one out there is the one that's paid off, not giving problems, and I'm out enjoying. Of the new ones, they all have the good ones and bad ones, so floor plan and capacities would be what makes me choose one. - mbloofExplorer"best" at what? Define "best".
- Weight?
- Quality?
- Room?
- Resale value?
- Holding tank capacity?
- Height?
- Warranty?
- "Bang" for the buck?
This is why the TC industry offers lots of choices as what might be "best" for me might not be "best" for someone else.
- Mark0. - SideHillSoupExplorerBefore we bought ours we did a lot of research and tire kicking. We made a list of likes and dis-likes and used that list to help guide us. We also had to match the camper weight and size to our truck, so that alone cut the list to choose from.
After many many months of looking we decided on Northern Lite. Everyone will have a different idea of what they want or need, however this camper fit our needs and wants perfectly.
Soup - jmtandemExplorer II'Best' is hard to define and depends a lot on what you are looking for. For me an Alaskan would be my first choice for a pop up and a Northern Lite for a hard side. However, if I was looking for a slide out camper then would look at Host.
- towproExplorerAt Hershey in past I saw Lance but could not get near them, and palameno. That was it. Unless Truck camper warehouse came down there is not any dealers around.

Not to be nit-picking, but it sort of depends on how you define 'best', doesn't it? What exactly is it you're trying to accomplish?
If you're purpose in having a truck camper is to put it on a 4X4 truck and get WAY back in the boondocks, places where no motor home or truck pulling a trailer could reach, then how TALL a truck camper is becomes a crucial factor. TCs like Alaskan, All Terain. and Four Wheel Campers will get you places you could never get a regular TC by virtue of their much lower travel height.
Exactly. 'Best' is determined by individual need, not by manufacturer and exactly why I have a pop up. No hard side could reach where I camp mostly, just way too high. Having said that I looked at all the pop ups and decided on what I bought for a number of reasons besides utility and floor plan.
No unit made will be 100% what I require but the one I bought comes the closest. - Optimistic_ParaExplorerNot to be nit-picking, but it sort of depends on how you define 'best', doesn't it? What exactly is it you're trying to accomplish?
