I am a contractor . Now I dont run my machines at full throttle all day . I dont drive my truck at the max RPM . I have many trailers for moving equipment , 3K to 10K trailers . Why would I run a tire that has a max speed of 65 MPH ? Thats basically running a tire at its max limit . Now throw in the summer heat , it gets worse . I have been thru the " china bomb " route . Time is money , having 2 guys sitting on the side of the road for an hour cost $$$$ . Plus the safety factor of changing a tire on the highway .
Now pulling my TT , 3 to 4 hours at highway speeds , summer temps . ( and yes i drive 65 sometimes I hit 70 mph depends on the conditions) BUT with my LT tires ,I am 25 MPH UNDER their speed rating (at 70 mph), and I am 2000 lbs under their weight rating . ( not factoring in the weight transfered to the truck ) I like having excess capacity that will never be used . If I were running ST tires I would be running at , or above maximum .
And at 65mph I am getting passed by many campers , way more than I am passing .
