So much for putting anything to rest.
Some people think they need to do whatever makes them think they will never have a flat. I'm surprised some haven't upgraded to 22.5 run flat tractor trailer rated tires.
Others think tires designed and built for the purpose are acceptable.
Nothing is ever going to change.
If you want to drive fast then by all means you should get tires designed to go fast. If you're going to carry a big load then you should certainly get tires designed to carry that load.
Basing your decision solely on the country of origin seems futile as the majority of tires seem to come from China. Are some better than others? Probably. But that's like the Chevy/Ford/Dodge discussion. My Ford is better than your Dodge is the same kind of un-provable argument based solely on anecdotal information. I can find opinions either way. So can you.
