15K on your truck and only filled DEF once? I have 12K and have gone through about 20 gallons. Of course 4500 miles was towing at 11.5 avg towing MPG.
My 10 K oil change, the Alabama dealer topped off all fluids, EXCEPT DEF. I asked him why not? He said, "Oh we don't do that as part of an oil change." I replied, Then why did you tell me you topped off all fluids?" His response, "Well we did." My response, "BullShoot...Go top off the DEF". They did. Fifteen minutes later the truck cam back to me. "OK...DEF full now. It took ten gallons. That'll be $56."
Last time I insist the dealer fills the DEF tank again at oil change. I didn't even know the tank would take 10 gallons, even if COMPLETELY empty. I had added 2.5 gallons back 2000 (towing) miles before, when I got the 500 mile to empty alert.
My bad, 15600kms.. which is 9700miles.. and yes only filled it once, still showing def OK. Tank is only 5 and a bit gallons, I think they pulled a fast one on you.
Still the point is that it is not inconvenient to fill the def tank from under the hood.
