My 10 K oil change, the Alabama dealer topped off all fluids, EXCEPT DEF. I asked him why not? He said, "Oh we don't do that as part of an oil change." Last time I insist the dealer fills the DEF tank again at oil change. I didn't even know the tank would take 10 gallons, even if COMPLETELY empty. I had added 2.5 gallons back 2000 (towing) miles before, when I got the 500 mile to empty alert.
My bad, 15600kms.. which is 9700miles.. and yes only filled it once, still showing def OK. Tank is only 5 and a bit gallons, I think they pulled a fast one on you.
Still the point is that it is not inconvenient to fill the def tank from under the hood.
