Guess I just assumed that since the DEF tank is supposed to be sized for filling at oil Change intervals, they would normally top it off as needed. Did I expect NOT to be charged for it? Of course I would expect pay for the DEF. Just not 10 gallons, when the tank is supposed to have a total capacity of just over 5 gallons. I did expect to pay more at the dealer. And $8.00/gallon (Dealer Price) was within the realm of possibility. But 10 gallons? In a 5 gallon tank?
Regardless, if it needed 10 gallons, it must have been pretty dry. Dealer tech didn't even check the level of DEF. I would have expected they should at least do that. Wouldn't you?
No I would not have expected a dealer to check my DEF and I would not expect them to check my fuel tank. That is your responsibility IMHO. Your fuel tank lets YOU know it is getting low and so does your DEF.
If they charged you for more than the tank can hold I would be disputing that for sure!
I assume the guy did not like the attitude and said I will do what he wants and then charge him!
