Looks like some kind of fungus or bacteria growing in that compartment....I'd just walk away from it...........fast...............
wow, gone one day, come back to the TV forum and we're talking about breast implants:h
I've seen the DEF at some filling stations, hadn't really looked at pricing, so guess I need to buy a couple of gallons to have on standby...When I got the truck it had full tank of diesel and full tank of DEF, guess I'll be able to see where I stand with the DEF after a couple tanks of gas.
I can only compare 10-12 EVIC readings on mpg to the 13's EVIC reading on mpg, and I alway's hand calc, but this truck is staying in the 15.4 or higher range with the driving since I purchased it and that's included city driving and start and stop...same kind of driving in the 10-12 3500's i had would net me on the Lie-O-Meter, in the upper 12's, to low 13's...it "SEEMS" to be an improvement and I don't have 200 miles on the truck yet.
Interesting. I am running low 16s with my HO 2011. No def and my brother in law is 18 with his def Chevy. I traded an 01 Duramax in on this on last year or so ago. I was happy not to deal with def the next few years. It has been interesting following ths thread. Thanks for the info.
What 2011 do you have? 2500HD, 3500HD SRW or 3500 DRW, with 16 mpg, I would think it's a 2500HD...I had a 2010 3500HD Crew Cab/Long bed/4X4/auto with 4:10 that never saw 16 mpg, even empty and on a trip...I had the 2012 HO, no DEF, same configuration as above, the 10 was a Laramie, the 12' was a Longhorn...and in the short time I owned it, on a trip, believe I got around 15 or close to that. Are we comparing "apples to apples" here? Only reason I ask is because of the configurations..If you have a 3500 Dually, crew cab, long bed, 4 wheel drive with 4:10 and auto...you need to hold on to that truck if you're getting 16 mpg in it...and I drive at speed limit or close enough to not get a ticket, ie, 62-63 in a 60 and 3 mph over a 70 speed limit...
I also live and do all my driving in the mountains, same with my towing.
I'm seeing a difference already with less than 200 miles on my truck getting better mpg than the same configured 2010 and 2012..and this truck is heavier, ie the Aisin tranny weighs more than the 68rfe auto tranny that I had in the 10 and the 12....Seems the DEF is doing what I hoped it would and some Chevy and Ford owners have reported who have DEF in their vehicles..
